Brother isn’t exactly the number one name that you would normally associate with printers, but then again they do have some pretty decent offerings in the past and currently. This time round, Brother has rolled out a couple of models under the Professional Series banner, featuring all-in-one color inkjets. Those seem to be the most popular type of printers these days, since everybody wants convenience in a single device. Of course, the downside would be, having the printer break down equals to disaster since you would be devoid of the other functions and features as well. The two printers we’ll look at today are the new MFC-5890CN and MFC-5490CN models. (Read the full post about ‘Brother introduces a couple more printers’…)

Who’d know that Sony would actually delve into the world of GPS navigation as well? I thought that the consumer electronics giant were pretty happy with their line up of flat TVs, high definition gaming consoles, Blu-ray players, but a Personal Navigation Device (PND)? Word has it that Sony recently announced four new PNDs under the model numbers NV-U94T, NV-U84, NV-U74T and NV-U44. In addition to helping you get around, these PNDs will include more brand icons, search functionality as well as photo viewing features so that you won’t get too bored while locating where’s the next rest room while you’re on the freeway. What do you expect from these? (Read the full post about ‘Sony’s new quartet of personal navigation devices’…)

Samsung has taken a 120GB 1.8-inch hard drive and recently put it into a shiny black, credit card sized enclosure. Seemingly without an official name, the new drives feature a shiny black exterior with a hard drive logo and a simple statement of “The Storage World In Hand.”
All things considered 120GB is quite a lot of storage for a drive enclosure of that size, and certainly beats using a regular USB flash drive in terms of capacity. The drive does offer some nice perks in that its a 4200rpm drive which only requires 1.4W of power, which means it will not require anything other than a spare USB port for power.

Sometimes technology can be put to really great use. Sometimes it can just be used to spy on us. Researchers Nitesh Dhanjani and Akshay Aggarwal are developing a tool which allows them to create a real time picture of how an Internet user is feeling, based on their profile on a series of social networking sites. “It will tell you what’s going on in your brain,” says Dhanjani. I know super-geeks can be a bit clueless about emotional stuff, so I’m going to spell this one out: I already know how I’m feeling. (I know a lot more about myself than Facebook does). So if you want to know how I’m feeling, ask me. And if I want you to know the answer, I’ll tell you. Otherwise, stop the stalking. If you have a thing about sleeping in all that spooky darkness, you might need something to add a glow to your room. Sure, you can pretend it’s for a your kid or a niece or nephew, but we know the truth. This tubby little hippo sits on your bedside table, munching away on some cookies which of course only make him fatter. Although, that’s probably best since a skinny hippo would be the slightest bit creepy. Some things should never be scrawny and hippos are one of those things. by Paul Miller, posted Aug 29th 2008 at 8:34AM While Panny’s 150-inch plasma from CES gets its very own room at the Panasonic booth, the new “budget-friendly” TH-103PZ800 103-inch plasma was relegated to a bit part in the back row of an artsy, rock garden-planted collection of displays. Granted, that YouTube playback on TVs won’t be available until September 30, we don’t have anything to compare this model with. Nevertheless, the PZR900 series that will be launched on September 10 can be used with YouTube by downloading a software application from Panasonic’s web site. If you’re wondering, then yes, it does have an internal 1TB HDD so you can record digital broadcasts. (Read the full post about ‘Panasonic PZR900 TV Series with YouTube Playback Capability’…)
